This manga is really weird. It starts in a setting with nearly no development (while still being really interesting) and apparently is going to end without expanding on the setting either.
Did this get cut short? Definitely feels like a series that is going to simplify a lot of things for the sake of brevity and which could use a prologue to flesh out the world etc. Maybe tell the story of the mother etc.
Either way, it's been an enjoyable series for sure.
