I'd honestly be okay with it if she didn't lie about the contents of the slip and we didn't go with that cliche. I also think it's more emotionally resonant if she had lots of other options for "person in your class", but specifically chose Shiraishi because she had other, more personal reasons than just grabbing the nearest classmate--she wanted to do something with Shiraishi in particular.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Japanese text was intentionally vague which would make translating this rather difficult. Probably could've done with a translator note if that's the case though. For now, I'm assuming that's the case until revealed otherwise.
