Okay, so it wasn't just those other series. It seems to be something about the Japanese language in general that they use the same word for taking apart an animal as they would a machine.
It just sounds really awkward to talk about "dismantling" an animal.

And the implication with that bear thing was that she really is bizarrely stuck with one glove of each colour shade.

Ugh. How disgusting.
