@wolfeng It's a translation thing, I guess. It generally comes out to something like Demon King or Lord, which both sound male, but Maou is essentially gender neutral. I suppose it could be better to translate it as ruler or monarch but it looses some pizazz, so I prefer Demon Lord myself, because there are cases in the real world where women have been referred to as a Lord rather than a Lady when they acquired some form of title. It also has the bonus of having certain religious connotations, which would fit with an existence like the Maou since they kind of seem like a godly being for the demons.
