Oh so we finally get one of the background chapters? I have a problem with them choosing the Demon King side first, as it won't help show the current political situation of the world, but it was about time for one such chapter to appear

@Elxira it was a strange chapter because the manga has been avoinding these chapters for far too long. In the original novel series, these background chapters served to expand the world, and show that there was more to the story than the misadventures or our spider idol on a deadly dungeon. The Manga has gone so long without one such chapter that it is now strange to see a chapter about the outside world. It's more of a problem with the adaptation than with the story here.

Funny how they suddenly give us a "side chapter", after they've avoided them all so far... And they don't really make it clear what it is, confusing the readers... With the webnovel, these chapters were specifically labelled.

For anyone who may not be aware, this chapter happens sometimes in the future, it isn't parallel with the current events with Kumo-chan, but is the continuation of it.

But as you can probably guess from that "nai wa~" there, our little spidery friend is still alive and kicking even in the future.

Since their entire class was transported there, the others were reincarnated as babies. A spider mature a LOT faster than humans(not to mention, is birthed a lot quicker as well), so while the others are still in the womb of their mothers and then little babies unable to do anything, our little Kumo-chan grows stronger by the day.
As such, the events so far have been happening within the first couple months of their birth while this event with the demon king, wrath and others, happen years in the future, when the other reincarnated individuals are teenagers IIRC.

Hmm, Balto really didn't look anything like what i pictured him. Wasn't he directly described as usually wearing a suit? This Balto is a bit disappointing compared to the super capable professional Balto in my head. Also Wrath looks stupid. Good job with Blow though.

Also for all the people like "where the fuck did this come from", in the original WN there were a lot of side chapters like this throughout that did the heavy lifting for the world building and showed what was going on in the outside world with the other reincarnators while our spider friend was having misadventures in the labyrinth. For a long time it wasn't at all clear how they lined up with or connected to the main story but they were a fairly regular thing. This small arc we are going into now is showing the Human-Demon Great War and was labeled as such in the WN. Kind of a shame they didn't bother to label it in the manga. It is an event of considerable importance (as you might expect) and a really nice arc that gets better once you know whats going on behind the scenes, but that is a long way off. For now just suspend your confusion a bit and enjoy it for what it is. It should give you a fair amount to ponder.

@BloodySorcerer These were my personal favorite of the side story chapters in the WN so I'm not too bothered by this being the first shown. They are also arguably the most important, outside of the

so its something you can't really skip. That being said though, it does lose a bit when you don't have the build up and the background the rest of the side story provides.

@eSPiYa Yikes spoilers. Please spoiler tag that shit, there are some direct spoilers in there and a lot of stuff that could be pretty easily inferred beyond the direct ones. That is not stuff that could be understood or inferred from where we are at in the manga either.

It's just following the novel and doing a time skip to show you what is coming. It will go back to spider life again in a chapter or two if it follows the novel.

Dude this manga is far away to be axed, this manga is always on the top 5 on the daily, weekly and monthly polls on young ace up (this is were it's released) and most of the time is the top 1 and has been the number 1 on the yearly top since the release.
