If this series follows real ninja tradition, their clan won't accept a male student as there are techniques a kunoichi passes down to another kunoichi that would be kept secret from male ninja. In history, a Kunoichi took in females and form a mother-daughter relationship with them.
That is why in this series, male and female are separated to 2 different clans.
