First, she wasn't in the same attire as the people around her. She had a cross and was just standing at the door. He thought he could talk his way out AND he didn't want to hit a girl.
Once he found out she was an enemy, and dangerous to boot he went all out.

I see 0 problems with that turn of events.

Not to mention that he likely could instinctually realize he wasn't a match after all the fighting and near-death situations he had gone through.

And since he had been relying on his animal instincts for a while, the correct action was running.
