@Glomoro Depends on the available resources. The risk increases as you deal with a person who has more individual resources to expend and the ease of removal.
Examples: A master swordsman? You don't break the swords themselves. They may have skills outside of that, like fist-a-cuffs or brawling. You deal with them by breaking their arms and elbows. This leaves them still relatively intact and have a chance to interrogate them. How? You heal their arms and break them again. You focus on what they can contribute their cause. Without arms, the swordsman is useless to help their cause.
On the other hand... a mage? You just kill them if you can't find a way to destroy their way to use magic while keeping them relatively intact to interrogate. A mage is too risky to deal with alive, even if they will likely have a lot of information.
Basic mook are easy to take because they are, overall, much weaker and likely easy to deal with, but they likely won't have information you don't already know. They are just killed off BECAUSE they are literally worthless from this perspective.
