Sariel turns out to be the girl he liked back in his original world and it was mutual. She was summoned before him (the time of summoning is non-linear so you can have people who were summoned from the same timeline in our world but arrive in the new world years apart) and suffered the same brainwashing and training but a small part of her still remembers him and that's why she's never actually deliver the killing blow. The MC only realized her identity later on in the series before he was about to deliver the final blow but unfortunately he's already turned her into a triple amputee by then. He at least managed to break the brainwashing and she becomes a sort of tsundere to him from what I heard.
