Kusuriya no Hitorigoto

I always thought Jinshi was the most handsome man I've ever seen... but now I've changed my mind!! XD
This chapter caused me nosebleed.

loving this story, at least something different from what I would normally read and had recommended to those I known that like this.

- several hours later -
When is the next one available and I somewhat regret getting my cousin into this but at least it was the weekend

I still remember how I was just trying to find a really good seinen manga and came across this manga. During that time it only had 15 chapters, I was so shook to the core of how intricate the plot for this manga is. Right after, I read the light novel and holy cow, the detail for the story is a masterpiece! Totally worth reading this! Also, I love strong female leads. It just breaks that typical cliche heroines, which is so tiring to read nowadays so this gem shook me lol.

I was reading 'Divine Doctor: Daughter of the First Wife (Shen Yi Di Nu)', but the plot was all over the place not to mention the protagonist wasn't very likeable. That's when I was recommended 'The Apothecary Diaries(Kusuriya no Hitorigoto )'. This was everything the first story wasn't..

wow i thought this was a basic ass shojo from the cover art but i couldn't have been more wrong!!

Basically this manga features a really intelligent female main character WITHOUT A REVERSE HAREM.
The premise and synopsis/description are pretty awful but the execution is very well done.
Using her vast knowledge and strange habits, she solves the crimes that plague the, for lack of a better description, noble brothel.
There is no ecchi but a decent amount of discussion about sex in general (mature audience).
The politics behind all the attempted assassinations can be boring.
The mysteries in the beginning feel strong and intriguing while later on they start to feel more compressed.

~read up to Chp 36
9/10 for the good execution of a potentially disastrous premise

I don't read as much manga bc I'm lazy and like color, but I decided to give this a chance due the adaptation, I felt it was VERY familiar, yup, I've read the LN, it's very cute (I don't mean like cute and fluffy but it's very nice! the MC is great) but now I don't really want to read it as I already know the story (and this is prob behind the LN) but I recommend it! It's very nice! Read a few chapters of this and it doesn't seem like a bad adaptation.

I'm kinda confused if this is manhua because of the setting or manga because of the artstyle and plotstyle, I concluded it is a manhua inside a manga

@DrFlyxuated it's a manga. Just because the setting is Ancient China inspired, doesn't mean it's a manhua. There're many mangas inspired by different eras in Ancient Asia, such as Akatsuki no Yona, Shut Hell, Kingdom, Blue Glass, etc.
