She woke up before the mermaid left, leading to the encounter we see.

@PapaTengri On page 9 the word "yourself" is misspelled. Wow I didn't expect how dark this would turn out. It seems like the mermaid saved her from drowning hence why girl was drenched when she see her. I kind of would like to see more of this oneshot & how much she changed with a chance of her not getting bullied anymore. Thanks for the translations.

I wonder if the old song she quoted had a double meaning. Maybe "the monsters of the sea" was referring to the draw of the ocean itself (and a death by drowning) to people in despair.
