To be honest, Lippe and her mom came out of the gate petty as hell. Like all other one dimensional villains in these stories, this guy is conveniently irredeemable so that the author isn’t at risk of painting the main characterS in a bad light, but if their intention was to deescalate the situation this was literally the worst way to do it. Just looking at the way they conduct themselves it’s actually not surprising that they pissed someone off in the past timeline to the point where they were targets of assassination.

@gum_rummy I'm pretty sure it goes deeper than a simple revenge story. Unless that person is a psychopath, he/she would never spend all the effort and time to kill an entire family slowly, one by one, and risk getting caught, because of one offense, no matter what it is.
