Such an institution would be the first step in bringing down such a misogynistic society and building it into a more equal one. Well, if she still has a family home she probably returned there already. Sounds like a really useless chess piece in terms of marrying her off again considering this country's general views, but as long as someone's alive you can find some use for them.

If that's not the case, there's always the possibility she was left to act as a caretaker for the mansion for now. If that isn't in the right general direction either, then yeah. "Who cares." She could be scrounging for scraps in the garbage now for all we know. Various possibilities in between each of these examples, if they don't bother to bring it up again after this we'll just never know.
