honestly, i love and understand why they're kind of doing this all behind ebony's back since it would only cause so much more anxiety for her. not to mention the fact that if she did find out the lengths they're going through to make sure that this case becomes a sure success, then she would probably try to stop them. fuckin absolutely heartbreaking how much bullshit ebony has to deal with, but at least she has others she knows she can rely and fall back on. it makes the whole thing easier.
also, i just fucking this whole household. sometimes a family is just a progressive woman respecting archduke, a tsun lawyer who gives respect to people with talent, a rowdy but caring cook that can probably deadlift a whole redwood forest, a rebellious and talented female doctor, a grandma who may or may not have magical powers, a grandpa who threatens death at the slightest provocation, and a sly and intelligent woman, and i just think that that's beautiful...

I caught remember some comments in the first few chapters that were saying this was a feminist tale. But now that I (gladly) stuck with this story instead of dropping it like a stone like I have with some movies. Those comments lied. This story can have a lead with either gender. The romance tag would be the only thing that changes. This is a story of social redemption.

@Xross24 Well, no, this is still quite a feminist story. There's an entire part of this setting that's literally a fight for women getting equal rights in the country it's set in. That's not an insignificant portion of the story here, if Ebony was a male lead character instead then he probably wouldn't have been in this position to begin with unless the entire country was changed to one that was more of a matriarchy that was chock full of misandry.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this story and just how this relatively small group of folks are all set to challenge and win against an entire nation's and centuries' worth of prejudice. The win coming their way feels so earned.

@Xross24, this is definitely a very feminist story. The entire premise is the mistreatment of women that led to Ebony being in the situation she's in, and how she's actively chellenging that as herself and the Raven. It wouldn't be nearly as impactful had the lead been a male in this particular setting, since they wouldn't have faced remotely as unfair a circumstance.

They aren't going to accept "he fell over and died," they're going to continue to accuse her of killing him, especially because he was going to sexually assault her. This world is based around the superiority of man to woman, and they're raring to get Ebony sent back to jail or killed, because she represents a challenge to that power.
