I know I'm reading this out of morbid curiosity and not because I really expect good writing. I think a lot of us are like that. And yet, eh...

So the variants grieve like humans? Okay...but they see humans as something to both eat and get revenge against? Is it supposed to be like if humans ate great white sharks? We kill the ones that we deem "maneaters" but then...they're a primary food source?
