Lies of the Sheriff Evans: Dead or Love - Vol. 8 Ch. 86 - The Road To Sheriffdom Is Not Easy

Quaid...he has balls of steel. Trying to woo a women in front of a criminal, respect.

Even though he is an idiot Quade is still honest about what he wants, so they know what to expect from him and how to handle him. Evans on the other hand hardly talks and never reveals his intentions.

Man, Evans really wants to eat his cake and have it too. Why get jealous about Quade getting the opportunity he went for when he's not attracting Oakley? Shame that none of his father's teachings so far have been about "just be up front about things".

Ted is a fine character, the biggest issue is the drawing... Depicting him as a 12-yo boy kills any chance to make him look a reliable deputy...

quaid gets dates because he bothers to ask girls out. evans goes the incel route, which is trying (and generally, succeeding, in evans' case) to be cool and waiting for women to jump into his pants (which doesn't work)

Even with oakley, nothing's going to happen until evans says something or some situation forces them to verbalize their feelings

that said, oakley is cute

This is part of what Terry Pratchett described as "jerk syndrome". The guy with no shame or pride will just ask out any girl he comes across, and the law of averages say that even if he gets shot down 99 times out of 100, he's bound to get lucky eventually.

"He didn't want to go the moment the man said "no guns."
This is one of the most American mangas I've ever read. Maybe even more than Gunsmith Cats.

As much as I like this manga they need to move the story along instead of just adding more characters.
Just have him finally get a date with some random chick then have him realise he has no idea how to make any small talk or get any further so he just fails.
Then have Oakley and Ted and Ted's girl stalk him during the date.
