His kids are being selfish. They say that he shouldn't do ballet cuz he may get hurt, but it seems that they just care about the money in their pocket and their "reputation" in their town.
They're treating him like he's 90. They want him to waste away and wither like an old man instead of pursue a passion he's had since he was a child. It's sad when people put down someone else's dream.
