Looking for a manga

I've forgotten the title of a particular manga. I'm looking for a manga where the MC uses a sword and picks up a slave who uses Wind magic during a guild evaluation. During this evaluation it's a battle royal type of elimination. During the evaluation, the MC protects the slave or companion, the Examiner notices who impressed his swordman skills is.
