How short?
Less than a 100 chapters?
Only 1 chapter?

F.e. Inuyashiki is only 67 chapters. Which I still find relative short, compared to some that go over 300 chapters.

Oneshots are often only 1 chapter.

Here's an assortment of some fun short series I rarely see people talk about. All completed and a bit all over the place genre-wise.

Samenai Machi no Kissaten
Wakusei Closet
Himizu (The author is actually very famous in Japan, and this particular manga was an inspiration to the likes of Inio Asano and Taiyou Matsumoto. It even has a movie adaptation that's way more well-known than the manga. Barely anyone ever seems to bring him up though, so he earns his place on the list. I'd also recommend Saltiness, although scanlations have only started recently.)

Undercurrent, Goggle and Koohi Jikan

Mononoke Soushi

These two short story collections aren't particularly obscure, but I wouldn't call them outright mainstream yet either. Hard recs:
