I am currently reading Hokuto No Ken and notice that many of the early chapters are translated from a French version of the manga. There is a note in one of the early chapters that the translator does not know who did the scans, but thanks. So, I do not believe the scans were exclusively available to any one translator / group, however they're obviously pretty old at this point.
I also do not know the first thing about where I would look for "raw" scans (and not sure if it is right to call these raws, since they're not Japanese originals, but a French publication). Googling so far has not been helpful, but again, might be using the wrong terminology.
I am working on learning French at the moment and would love to get some extra practice.
