No apparent overarching plot as far as chapter 4, but the stories are intertwined, with a new girl being introduced in RL at the end of chapter 4 (as opposed to Sumire who only made an appearance in the simulation). There is also a different perspective in simulation in chapter 3.

If I had to say something, this sets up how different people view the app and the scores differently and use it for different purposes.

The app clearly isn't so simple as to just be some Orwellian manmade tool. It's almost certainly supernatural. One thing that bothers me is that the main character has a chance with these women, but doesn't go out with them because of some app that he has no reason to believe in. Even if they do end up breaking up, a good relationship will still change and develop you as a person.
