Those were Hebrew letters. They spell Z-p-(vowel)-r, or something along the lines of zpar, and to connect the consonants, there's usually a vocalized vowel inserted between them (much like Egyptian hieroglyphics and Arabic abjad systems), hence Zepar. He was summoning the demon.

I've studied a lot of occult, and for "Zodii Peh Ah Reh" I can tell you that Zodii is in reference to astral forces (see Zodiac), Peh seems likely to be a moniker for exchange or transaction (no direct translation, but I remember "perre" being used frequently in texts) and the "Ah Reh" is likely a stand-in for "Arret" which is derrived from "Argent" or silver. In most occult, Gold symbolizes the true desires of your heart, while Silver symbolizes the shadow of those desires. It's not unlikely that the shadow of the desire for love would conceivably be lust.

Anyways, it may be a bit of a stretch, but I figured I'd at least share what I gathered from that bit there.
