Well if it is the part where "one of the characters has a tragic past where they generate an immense hate for the cause of it, betray their friends because of it, only for the story to plunge into a long and boring backstory which almost no one cares about, because the immediate next chapter/arc will likely be about how all of that set up was pointless because at the end they change their mind and are completely forgiven by the MC/friends", then yes, you probably have.
