boiling water only kills most bacteria and viruses. it won't make poison go away, otherwise they would have just boiled the contaminated water from the first site.

Abyss ecosystem is so effed up that maybe some nasty microbes can survive being boiled just fine. Lifeforms like this exist in real life too, they are called "hyperthermophiles".
