It's getting a bit more serious, and I liked seeing everyone treat her well (teach about reptiles, the owner and son treating her like a little cousin/niece, etc.).

Get rid of the pedo references though. Stuff like "lusting after a younger girl" can work in a story if you're using it to send a message the audience can agree with, but I don't think the author's handling it well. I think he messed up when he introduced the MC as someone we(the audience) could actually see becoming a sexual predator and didn't immediately move us in a direction that suggested he wouldn't.
