Its fun seeing how 14 is basically the 16-18 of western fiction. As once you've hit past 16 you gotta find a job and stick with it and your 'youth' is considered over. Would be nice if the west stopped treating 18-23 ish year olds as still children and making then have proper responsibility starting from 16 too.
