@Jakeandhistoe something seemed wrong with the wine spill thing...but I think that was kind of the joke, that the reader is supposed to know he spilled the wine.

So does Grandpa consider Kishi to be his Granddaughter? Is he telling her to quit because his grandson is a klutz, or because he thinks his grandson should have confessed to her already, but it seems he may never confess?
