Mairimashita! Iruma-kun - Vol. 17 Ch. 149 - Pixie's Melody

From Wikipedia: "Purson is depicted as a man with a lion's head, carrying a ferocious viper in his hand, and riding a bear. Before him there can be heard many trumpets sounding."

Neat referencing there.

I feel like purson soi's brother is going to be in evil organization or something.

@Raskaro His brother is so advanced he straight up bailed on the family, just like every other trope entry on overly-strict Japanese households with two or more sons.

Are every demon in this world is inbred? The purson family looks really a like. His mother and his father all have the same bloodline magic

@Chrona
you want neat foreshadow? read a goddamn mystery/psychological or attack on titan.

you sounds like a kind of person who expect epic sakuga battle in romcom (might happen, but unlikely)

Absolutely nobody:

Uh, this is kind of awfully convenient. He seems to really have been written into the story just now as a sort of half assed plot device/inconvenience.
It'd be different if the "5 pm Pixie trumpet performance" happened at least one other time in the series before this (if I'm wrong and it has please tell me which chapter)

@bejad007
Eiichiro Oda can foreshadow events 300 chapters back in One Piece with a whale. Why should I judge this author by different standard? Just because it's Shounenshit doesn't mean it can't be written well.

Granted, Purson's brother is obviously going to be involved with Six Fingers, so the author does understand how foreshadowing works. That's why I say his planning is weaker specifically.

@tsunamininja
Exactly.

@KawaiiMajinken
I'm not asking for every author to write the same. This isn't a matter of aesthetic style, this is a fundamental of story writing. This subplot comes out of nowhere, which would make sense if the character's only trait was being invisible, but no, apparently he's a well known phenomena of the school "Pixie" that literally everyone knows about and always plays at the same time, but has never been mentioned up to know a half of a year into school and 149 chapters into the series.

This is further confounded by the fact that yes, Purson is mentioned by name as early as chapter 8, but this "Pixie" bullshit comes out of nowhere. The author very obvious understands foreshadowing, but did not use it in this instance.

Apparently Purson was one of the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, and many trumpets sound before him. Essentially, Purson makes his presence known with trumpets, which is exactly what Soi's doing here.

Knowing this, Purson suddenly pulling out a trumpet doesn't really come out of nowhere. Perhaps there should've been a performance before this, sure. But, to use One Piece, this is kind of similar to Usopp being introduced as the guy who lies a lot. It's in his goddamn name. xD

It's more an establishing character trait for me, if anything.

Not all of the demons that reference Ars Goetia act like their counterpart. Furthermore, this is a Shounen. That doesn't mean it should be poorly written, but it should be written with the knowledge that 12-year-olds don't commonly read the Ars Goetia. It's a nice reference but doesn't excuse the form.

But, to use One Piece, this is kind of similar to Usopp being introduced as the guy who lies a lot. It's in his goddamn name. xD

That is not at all the same. This would be like if Usopp joined the crew and it wasn't discovered until Enies Lobby that he had a secret alias Sogeking, that was the world's most famous and powerful sniper.

So for all the video games that have trumpets in the BGM, just think of it as being played by Purson Soi who is just following behind your character.

@Chrona why does everything need to be foreshadowed for you? Having foreshadowing is cool but not having it isn't a vice. At the very least, there's no contradictions with the added information.
