Shinyuu translates better as best friend. Soulmate implies they are boning, which they aren't. Also next chapter implies the entire misfit class are "shinyuu", since they are closer than the other class students, who are also friends but not as close as they are. I guess I can see where you get that from in the next chapter, but that's just azz's delusions.
