This has definite potential. The premise is solid and allows enough motive to carry out an adventure plot.

Some technical questions: Does this series have a magic system? Is this series episodic with long, theme-focused chapters? Whatever the case may be, I’m looking forward to riding this series out!

On a separate note, I can’t help but imagine this as a video game.

Everything from Chapter 1 will be the starting cutscene, then we can have Loki take on a nomadic lifestyle and slowly work up his skills, scouring the country, or world, to eliminate the living paintings! Everytime he finishes a boss, we get some sort of flashback revolving around the creation of said painting. Maybe play as Aisha during flashbacks?

Alternatively, we can have the game start out in medias res with Loki getting the last few paintings; then have prequels depicting whatever happened in the hundred or so years he’s been hunting. We’ll see Loki evaluate humanity along the way.

I think I’m being influenced by Monster Hunter and BoTW...

Lastly, I had the morbid prediction throughout the first chapter that

Aisha would bleed herself out for Loki to enable his humanity and tangibility, as it would explain and further emphasize his grief for her. The “rip and scatter” method nonetheless looks more reasonable and gave enough emotional impact for me. Maybe Loki’s frame weapon can revive Aisha when he contains enough of her paintings?
