That was pretty sad and made me cry. Unfortunately without oiling the armor Colt will rust really fast now with fresh iron exposed. Best way is if the armor never touched air, just went from vinegar to oil.

That isn't quite how rust works, the way it's shown is closer to how copper oxidation works, rust is on the cellular level so it's very difficult to remove, and often involves any rusted sections being entire replaced due to how deep the damage gets
