"Still can't afford to send her" in short I'm p sure that means the humans can probably win the war(which kinda makes sense considering how loaded they are) since the princess as the hostage is the only thing preventing outright war for both sides. If they wanted peace I was wondering why they didn't send her back and try to negotiate a treaty,but even then it wouldn't be able to fix the long withstanding prejudice or change the king's mind.

I think there is one chapter that specified that the human king united all the humankind to found the Kaymin Unified Human Nation to fend off the demon. He is strong for sure, but may not want to keep the war for fun.
