Maou no Ore ga Dorei Elf wo Yome ni Shitanda ga, Dou Medereba ii? - Vol. 5 Ch. 22 - Even So, Defeating Evil is a Holy Knight's Duty (2)

At least now old knight-san is more morally ambiguous than "haha everyone except humans should die" and didn't necessarily join mc's side. That was a pretty nice talk they had, it really highlighted that each character is not a shallow trope except maybe barbaros lmao

Didn't the demon summoned by his buddy bow down to MC because he's a demon lord?
why does MC need to worry about demons?
I assume there will be more powerful demons who can ignore the control of the demon lord insignia or most of the other demon lords r the real enemy.

Meh, when he finally beats the demon chimera we can finally move on to volume 3 in the light novels.

Page 8 is utterly retarded in regards to swordsmanship. How the hell is she supposed to block his strike?

Can't say I like where the plot is heading towards, seems like this chapter introduced a lot of things that would complicate the story. Maybe it wouldn't feel too much if they put some groundwork into what we can expect. Definitely enjoyed this manga as an SoL with world building in the background, not quite sure how I like it when it focuses on an overarching story so far.

Thanks for the chapter translators~

@Fenrire I see your point but I think I understood what happened, she didn't really meant to block his attack so much as she actually just intervened in it's trajectory. She wasn't in the fight and the attack wouldn't hit her so what she did was simple add some resistence to his attack, instead of jumping in front of the attack and properly parrying the blow. It was just a "STOP" instead of entering as a new player in the game. WIth the sudden resistence he stopped the blade himself to understand what happened.

If these are like the demons from Black Clover or Chainsaw man, they are well and truly fucked

For adversaries, I like these kinds of demons so much more than the sexy humans with horns we usually see.

it was obvious from the start that this old man wasn't just some hardheaded bigot

DID SOMEBODY SAY DEMONS

@Drifter Because those invariably exist to be 'misunderstood good guys' and or to be wooed by the MC or some garbage. Or they were evil seductresses all along and who turn into their evil fleshmonstrocity ultra final form.

What was the point of charging at Fol at all? Could easily clear up the misunderstanding while still offer his life.

Instead what did he plan to achieve by attacking Fol? If nobody reacted would he have swung his sword at her? Or just take Fol's attack head on and have either no effect, or dies to it? Neither approach makes any sense and helps nobody. No way he anticipated Chastel showing up.

Am I remembering the novel wrong? I swear the old man did kill the dragon...

@Drifter
Couldn't agree more.
They embody "world ending danger" much more than the usual demon lords and horned devils with human physique.
