He was acting like an enemy cuz he felt guilty on the dragon's death. He wanted to die for redemption. Him charging while bullshiting "Then I have to kill you" was on purpose so that they wouldn't have to hold back to kill him. It doesn't take a genius to understand that tbh.

@xtheconman - it's not that we just "repent," we ask for forgiveness and grace from God, then undertake penance and the effort to not sin in such a way again. Depending on the sin, we must also find some way to make amends with the person we sinned against. And we don't stop at once, we are supposed to repent and sin no more or receive the sacrament constantly because we are imperfect and sinful without God's grace.

@sylvacoer but what if you did something that the person who you sinned against would never be able to forgive you for? would that mean that you have to constantly receive sacraments, and does receiving sacraments then absolve you of the sin? also, (plz correct me if i'm wrong cause most of the stuff i know about the religion is historical, so i don't know much about the teachings (idk the correct word but teachings seems to fit)) from what i understand about it, if (a proverbial "you") continue to sin again and again, if you repent and i guess (from what i got from your comment) either pay penance or take sacraments, you can continue to be forgiven? i mean, like, if someone murders someone, and then (idk about what penance actually involves) idk, give them a proper burial and pay their family reparations or something, and then pray to be forgiven, and then continues that cycle, then that person will still be forgiven? cause if that is the case then it seems(at least to me) kinda messed up....

@xtheconman - with regards to the human person, their forgiveness ultimately doesn't matter. If the person you sinned against never forgives you, but you never sin against them again, then you are forgiven by God for that sin. The problem in that scenario is that if the person who was sinned against commits sins in reprisal for the first sin because they couldn't forgive - they put their own souls in jeopardy, and there really isn't anything certain as to what, if any, responsibility you have from then on. A human forgiving a fellow human for something is, in the long run, for their own personal benefit rather than the sinner's.

Regarding repetition of sin: If you confess your sin in the sacrament and receive God's forgiveness, truly repent and sin no more, then God forgives that sin. If you knowingly commit the same sin again, can you say you actually truly repented and received grace? It's actually something of a theological...erm... useless discussion at this point, to ask, "Could God forgive Hitler for everything he did if he truly confessed and repented for his sins?" The doctrinal answer is "yes," but the practical considerations as well as our own human inability to truly forgive would argue every (meta)physical counterpoint to demand a "no."
