I will only continue this because you guys say it was different in WN, but protag is such a wuss. He forgot to include his demon girls and rights to kick his ass whenever any of those merchants see him in those terms.
HE PUT A CITY ON THE MF GOLDEN GROUND! There is literally nothing he needs to do. Put a inn, and it would grow into city by itself in less that 10 years, with merchants literally killing each other to get their shop there.

yeah, i pretty much have to skim/skip over these two chapters when rereading. The manga changed this scene dramatically for the worse. There were ways to change it up so it wasn't as short/cut and dried as the WN version where Procell handled the whole thing smoothly, but redoing it so he was someone who couldn't be trusted to run a lemonade stand wasn't it. Oh well, skim and move on.

So the merchant who threatened mc low-key looks like Aizawa from BNHA
Goods like apples of sold out side the city for a higher price still gives disadvantages to the merchants, and plenty of benefits to the town/city/dungeon.
1st advantage for MC, if he starts an orchard and let’s people do apple picking and sell items made from apples that could easily become a staple of the town, making it a more popular attraction to those who hear of it.
- Because apples are only grown in that town under the elves blessing the merchants can not regrow them to taste as good.
- Because apples are a perishable good if not sold and consumed within a certain timespan they will spoil, the merchants will suffer a loss on this end.
2nd advantage for MC, the weapons sold in his territory can not be replicated, any attempts will just be a cheap imitation that pales to the splendor of the dwarves hand crafted goods. If they capitalize on more than just weapons, things like jewelry, decorations, utensils, and armor, with that variety and the high value because of the dwarven creator will bring in tons of revenue, if a special seal that cannot be recreated, removed, or covered up is placed on the products, certifying it’s authenticity weeding out replicas will be easy, thus the replicas become worthless.
3rd advantage for MC, seeing as demi-humans wearing cute outfits and working is so cute much more fanfare over the city will be made.
