Maou-sama, Retry! - Vol. 2 Ch. 8

"Soap? What's soap?"

Humans have been making soap since the Mesolithic. It's literally just fat or oil mixed with ashes; but we're supposed to believe that in a city that's obviously early industrial era, they've never heard of soap.

Also, soap isn't that good for your skin. It strips it of moisture and destroys the proper bacterial balance allowing pimple causing bacteria like Cutibacterium acnes to flourish.

It seems they forgot to put in the screen tone for her tan in a couple panels or something. That's unfortunate.

@Weetch
The Romans and Greeks used hot water and oil which they scraped off the skin, along with dirt and dead skin, using a tool called a strigil. This is apparently a much better method.
For all my talk though, I can't kick the daily soap and shower myself.

Its not fried darn it, its the german Fried (pronounced freed, like Friedrich) 😎 I like to fry a few rich people too~

@northern That isn't what happened. The fat lady even recognized it as soap, I think she was just surprised by how it looked (being a work of modern manufacturing and all). The 'special' aspect of the soap was that it cleaned a lot better than the soap that was being made in the world already, which is pretty easy to believe.

Seak of the clown, and the clown shall appear. Pretty meta series lol.

Can't wait to meet cousn friedchikin and friedtendies.
