...it is rare that they don't murder/kill the Demon Lord outright. Kinda surprised honestly. Even more surprised by these extremely mixed signals said demon lord is sending.
@alonerone Dick is a variant on Richard, and apparently experienced some popularity in the 1930s? And it seems to suit him. It may also be a joke reference to the Silver bullet for treating heat stroke...
@gda19
it could be demon lord or plainly king of an enemy country.
Best way to conquer their lands is to kill the head so the king of the winning side would have no one to challenge his authority.
two kingdoms, two ways to win, kill half of the enemy or replace the highest authority.
@gda19 Probably that "take over the world" shtick annoys people.
Also "it's a fantasy manga we don't have to explain sh*t" attitude of author.
Also2 I think Hero Union BBS might have some points of view on that matter.
On top of my head, there is Sekai Maou wich gives proper backstory to assassin hero/maou relationship.
Honestly, gag manga always explains lore and backstory much better then high fantasy manga most of the time =_=
@icarushector
It's been popular a lot longer than just the 30's. For a few examples
President Richard "dick" (called Tricky Dick on Monday night football) Nixon
Vice president Richard Bruce "dick" Cheney
Richard "Dick" Grayson (original Robin from Batman)
It's just a weird thing like Margret turning into Peggy, William turning into Bill(Bill Clinton is a good example of this), or Robert turning into Bobby. It's not really as uncommon as people might think.
@spacehydra just based on a name tracker I found on the internet, 'Dick' peaked in popularity in the thirties. Which is to say, kids were being named Dick in the thirties. the incidence decreased until dropping below the tracker's counting at less than 1 in a million around the '70s. Though I will admit I forgot about Dick Grayson.
