Well, that is weird made worse by the artist going from a dragons left side sweep to a right side sweep in those last few panels, since if it was a dragon right side sweep(her left), she could have easily blocked with her shield even if she was somewhat distracted and only gotten knocked back and some damage compared to her companion down and her in despair.

@Chet31 Actually I think the first panel was a shot of the tail descending straight down, then the final panel was showing the angle it was coming in from.

@HDMI1 If it was coming straight down, there is no way in hell she didnt see it coming. It's either way just a poor way of depicting it, could have done overhead from the dragon, her or just not shown it until it hit.
