Well for the Arch Duke, which i assume is the direct brother or uncle of the king, hence Arch, it would need to be something significant for him to leave.
Well I guess making his Grand Daughter the next Queen would be a good enough reason.

Err everyone's so harsh on the Earl's treatment to the MC, the one doing all those harassments isn't just him you know? The Earl is the country's great general, you should understand why he favors Holy Knight rather than Toxic EX. He didn't completely neglect the MC though, he's still willing to train the MC after all.

The actual problems are the MC step-mother, step-brother, grandmother from his father side and the guards who constantly harass and look down on his mother and him. In short, almost everyone in the Earl's mansion. When you have the whole mansion treating him like that, what can you do as the family head? Would you favor one person above the whole mansion? You would do exactly like what the Earl's done, follow the majority and look like a jerk.

@Karmichel , yea I agree, it's quite apparent to us readers, but maybe not apparent to them at the time especially when there are multiple factors involved. I haven't read the novel to the point where the ruler of Hyme kingdom debuts and shows his personality etc, but I'm guessing while most of the nobles and royalties aren't aware of Olivia's and MC's origin and the signed treaty, the ruler himself might be discriminating MC and thought Olivia wouldn't dare to get divorced, or that everyone else outside of Roundheart house is just unaware of the situation where Olivia and MC were neglected, bullied and harassed so they did nothing assuming everything's fine. I mean, it's shown how upset and frustrated the archduke was when he found out about it.

Side note: Kinda sad to see there are still new comments asking about cat princess being a cat figure and grandpa King's taste or Queen's species. Explanations (in the form of spoilers) were already given multiple times by multiple readers but I guess they are ignored/neglected, or maybe my comments are too long and people don't wanna read and skip them, that makes me feel kinda invisible Oh well, Imma move on as things will be explained in the manga's future chapters anyway (probably).

@Huapollon The Ishtalica kingdom must ready for war because gunboat diplomacy is more like intimidation to win the negotiation.
The 1st king of the Ishtalica kingdom seems to put some words, so the government prefers peace. This is the situation so far, don't know about the future.

@GrimThoughts doubt that, the minister is asking the queen permission of some doc. so clearly she got her own authorities and not to tell in kingdom, a king and queen are just one. there are no 2 kings or 2 queens if im not mistaken.
if it's empire, then maybe there will be more than one empress that can hold power
