Mato Seihei no Slave - Vol. 6 Ch. 44 - A Slave's Master

@daniel345
Yes, unfortunately the signs from the development going on is that author is still going to pair MC with Kyouka... I also feel they would be better suited as friends/battle partners rather than lovers. Guess this is why Tenka's unexpected popularity really must have felt like he shot himself in the foot. An example in earlier chapters Kyouka said it was ok for Tenka to go for Yuuki, but then went back on her decision not long after. Can't remember exact chapter but either it was on that exact same chapter or just the next chapter over.

Ah, what a waste. The best girls are never the first girl, but the first girls always win in the end by a large majority of the time. Times like these make me wonder what's even the point of the harem tag if the author already has a clear pick already.

Well that's true. But it's just so damn rare to see an author to commit to the genre, and just goes fuck all in the end and goes with the predictable "first girl always wins" despite the harem tag.

Well, the few I can remember that went all in would be Maga Tsuki... and Magika, I guess? A shame, but this looks like this won't be going like those two series I mentioned. It just kind of takes away for me that I can already somewhat predict atleast one facet on how the series will end

@someunregpunk @savris

It will be interesting to see the development, sure first girl isn't always the best one, but sometimes it's the safest route for the author, and maybe even his/her OG intentions

Dunno if it's a fair comparison but look at Hataraku Maou, author got blasted so hard on the internet for supposedly choosing the "wrong" one, even though it's that there
are supporters for 1st and 2nd girls

@RZ_117 imo, as much as Chiho is a lovely girl, the author pairing her with Maou at the end kind of undermined all that build up we got through the series between Maou and Emi (relationship wise), so I see "some" rage directed at him justified (it doesn't help the new series of his is a bland copy&paste of Hataraku Maou but with vampires/vampire hunters).

@RZ_117
Ah, Hataraku. That did happen. I was really sure it would be Emi, with how the author was telegraphing everything but was pleasantly surprised it was Chiho instead. Not sure why all the hate was about that. It's pretty rare for straightforward girls like Chiho to win in things like that. The one's who usually get the gold in the end are the heroines who usually are knee-deep in the "tsun" part of things and MC's are made to somehow gravitate towards that like gluttons for punishment...

But, yeah. You got it right, "first girl" is ever the safe option for authors. It's just a personal gripe of mine because I've read different series where they build up several heroines, then drops them for the glaringly obvious choice that was the first one introduced since the first chapter. I know it's also for fanservice and all that, I just personally feel it cheapens the harem tag. It's all obvious to me, but well, I guess well just have to see this series' development as you said.

All of you guys talking about first girl winning when she isn't even in the race.

The way I see it, this is one of the few manga, that might actually go true harem. He's like the only guy around.
In their society where women can eat peaches and gain super powers, women are technically physically stronger usually. Most men are intimated by the Mato squad because they don't want to be with super strong girls, and that's the reason why the Mato organization has so few males.

The protagonist is in a unique position where he's a guy surrounded by girls who are risking their lives but have an abysmal romantic outlook. He doesn't care that the girls might be physically stronger, he just wants to participate in helping other people survive the supernatural disasters that can fall on people.

Shu, and Tenka are super forward with him for that reason. If the story goes in the same direction it's been going in, it's probably gonna go the harem route.

I think that I'm one of the only few who don't want Tenka to win, judging from the comments here. I much rather want the harem ending, or at the very least, have Kyouka, Shushu and Himari get together with Yuuki.

Listen I don't know where the romance is going and I honestly don't care, I'm just here for the dumpster fire that is this MC

Edit: also tiddies
