The funny thing here is that our boi, Masked Monarch, was probably explaining overflow because that was the literal time limit before such a thing occurred, which HE would fix and make their country look bad.
It is not so much as a asian trope but that a portion of readers will feel better when their own country is shown as good or if they're criticizing the country from the beginning. Criticizing their own country has also be shown but it is from the beginning so as not to make a mess. But here the author has shown his own country in good light so won't suddenly show it as bad, which would break the plot to an extent.
Also this trope you mentioned isn't only to asian countries but is seen all around the world, it's just that the translations here are atleast 95% from asian countries.
Try reading some of the older novels from european countries and it would have africans as savages who need to taught how to be civilised and even in some stories to not eat their own.
Also plenty of American movies are the perfect representation of this trope where only america can fight and others are running around like headless chicken or only they're being attacked by some entity or organization.
As for the only MC is good, it is an OP MC story and he isn't the anti-villain what did you expect?
I love how all korean manhwa artists make Japan out to be the skummiest of counties when dealing with things on a world scale. The animosity is definitely justified but I find it interesting that they carry it forward in their works of fiction as well. Sweet sweet revenge.
Oh and as others have pointed out, this is nothing new or solely seen in korean manhwa, where the artists country is good and capable while other are not. Just been seeing japan evil in a lot of Korean action manhwa lately and wanted to mention my observation
@bythos
i dont hate too much this kinda trope but slowly it getting bored by it since shit ton of them from chinese, japanese and korean manhwa or manga whatever, use this trope badly by blatantly called every one evil except them
Ik plenty of movies in murica have another country as enemy or villain but called every country is too much
I agree that is overused as an easy villain similar to a rich wastrel.
As for every country was shown in bad-light doesn't feel so accurate. Like the US did a last-ditch effort with their military to protect their pride as a nation but had eventually relented when they couldn't do it themselves. Can't remember any other country other than Japan, which yes is shown as having a really corrupt people in power who disregard human life and these kind of people can easily be found in Korea too.
Had actually only commeted because calling the trope asian felt a bit wrong when others outside of the asian continent can be charged with the same crime of using the easy villain.
@Zm That's because of all the history between Japan and Korea, literally Japan did war crimes against them back in WW2 and even earlier. You can still see the racism against Japanese people in Korea's older generation. That's why you see a lot of this kind of thing from Korean Manhwa. You ain't gonna see it with Korea + USA or really anywhere else. Think of Solo Leveling and how the Japanese Hunters treated Korea.

I'm really disappointed in this Japanese player dude. He's obviously one of probably 25 top players worldwide and he's taking orders from a fat idiot?
How do you not understand the situation the world is in? The players have all the power, they're fools for not realizing it. Kill this fat scum who cares not about the very people who put him in his position.
As for mask monarch probably didn't even cause the overflow. Even if he did. No evidence. Slander is serious business when it's against a famous person.
