Dev forums are up, which is similar to what we recently started doing with canary frontend, a way for us to roll out things before it hits production.

Work has mostly completed for the initial release and will continue after, but we're at a comfortable spot where it makes sense to reign in some first feedback on how it looks, behaves and what might be still broken.

Will things persist into the upcoming PRODUCTION forum?

No, the prod forum will start with a fresh migration, same content that this dev forum starts with and hopefully a few more fixes. All threads, posts and settings you do here will stay here.

Where to report things that dont work?

Please make extensive use of the new Suggestions forum which now comes with integrated up/downdoot voting and Bugs for reporting things that are broken.

Where is the light style / other styles?

Light style is in the works but not ready for general usage. Will be added once its ready.

Where are the comments?

Comments have been backported into specific subforums:
The way it will work is that the frontend will integrate their comment system through these subforums, auto-create new threads for each entity when the first comment is made and users will both be able to participate in commenting through the frontend (in the future) and inside the forums. Thread creation in those sections is disabled for obvious reasons

Why have some threads numeric names?

The way v3 worked was that the thread title corresponded to the (legacy) id of the resource in question. We will backfill the titles through our legacy-mapping function over the next days (there are many so it takes a while) but some old resources have been deleted, in which case you see the numeric thread titles.

Will animated avatars be allowed?

At the moment no, in the future probably also no.
