Nagumi does seem to be a good person.
He's had enough really bad things happen to him that he can keep what's going on in perspective; yes, it's weird, but none of them mean any harm, and no one has gotten hurt.
Thus, he's more able to roll with the punches than whoever had his position previously.
It isn't freaking him out. Well, at least not enough to make going back on the street seem preferable.
