Why the fuck is rape thrown around so cheaply these days? It's not like it actually works for creating suspense. Either the cliché thing happens where the hero saves the girl and she recovers from the experience with utterly unrealistic speed, or she gets actually raped, which just doesn't happen because it would trigger the shit out of every reader.

This is just the dumbest possible use of the Attempted Rape trope, and it pops up everywhere for some reason.
