C'mon guys,
MC still traumatized by his past before he meet Takamine.
His problem not only about height. but way more than that.
and this "height" problem probably just an excuse to reject him in the first place.
there're lack of information about his previous crush, like how close they are before. is it almost the same like Takamine or not?
and the most important is.. "HOW LONG"? months? years? the higher you climb the harder you fall.
if so, then that its a surprise that he act like that toward her after realize his feeling.

That rejection really broke MC confident,
for some people after incident like that it will lower their expectation about being liked back or even noticed.
this why he denied his feeling toward Takamine. because afraid of rejection.
Because the worst thing about rejection is, not being able to talk again with someone you love.
awkward feeling,sad, worried and hate mixed into one whenever you meet her. and this made worse by our wimpy MC.

Until this point he used Takamine to run away from his past.
And now its time for him to face it and overcome it.

Its easy for us as reader to criticize him, about how stupid he is.
I once had this phase once in my life. trust me, the fear of rejection is real.

Calm down guys, its part of the drama and character dev.
and if you dislike Drama that much.. why the hell are you even here for...
and trust me, there're much worse drama out there than this.
 
@Captaininvictus ..seriously... the kid has a complex about his looks. Not just a little one either. He's terrified of getting rejected (again). And even if things work out, their differences are such that his complex will keep nibbling away and making him insecure because of how different they are side-by-side. This was set up right at the beginning of the series.

its just part of his denial for his fear of rejection,
and trust me its not Japanese mindset.
this stuff pretty common IRL.
 
Meh, I honestly can't sympathize with him, nor am I frustrated with him.
More bewildered than anything at this point.
 
it started good, but it goes down the drain of stomping in one place without any progress in any direction. it's not good.
 
you need to wait for him to man up here
It is quite hard for one to change even if you know what should be done deep down in your heart
 
no offense but this started as good but every new update it just, its freakin shit, like this is just another generic shoujo manga, art is good but the story is pretty shit
 
The mc is clearly hurting from the rejection. They are getting closer to each other and that memory is creeping up on him, so he wants to reset it back to when they just met. Everyone should know the fear of failure, the loss of friends. He wants to be evermoving, staleness and just putting up with pain. While the heroine has from the start wanted him to move on, to express feelings rather then keeping them bottled up while showing a mask on the outside. She's his other self telling him to be honest with her. But he's not willing and i can see where shes comming with this. I bet he'll feel forced to take the brave choice now so he can grow.
 
Hey guys, don't bitch about what the author has presented to you. Don't try to implement your own expectations onto this. and yeah, don include and term it as "Japanese mindset or ...something". I think you ought to be kidding when you say something like that or group the whole of japan based on a story. some guys get up fast and some don't (literally).

The last pages, damn the cliffhanger. Really excited for the next chap
 
Folks, we understand the MC and the drama, the problem is that the narrative here is just "bad" and boring. This mangaká is not doing a good work. If not for the pretty scribbles this would get much less attention.
