Mieruko-chan - Vol. 3 Ch. 20

@datcrazyazn I think it would've been perfecr if the revelation happened before the ghost ran up to her, that would trigger uncanny valley cuz that's not normal to wave at a kid and then have them dash towards you, if that happened as the "kid" was running up close it would've been way more terrifying for her since there would be practically no space to react but she would have the time to realize thta she had fucked up big time.
But yeah, I guess mangaka isn't that familiar with uncanny valley, though I thought this sort of stuff would benefit a lot from using it.

Welp, who need sleep anyway. And that is truly disturbing, even if say... you really can see ghost and try your hardest to avoid them, but with that kind of "perfect disguise" that can blend normally into human society if frightening.

Ok the ghosts just got 10x more dangerous if they can pull off that kind of camouflage

I think the "disguise" you guys are talking about wasn't an all that common thing for the ghosts or a deliberate strategy.
I read it as a kid ghost who had the desire of having a normal life with parents again, so he took on that image. Still, of course he's gonna get set off when someone acknowledges his existence.
Imagine what an actual feral ghost would turn into if he got acknowledged.

That kid seemed to be acting normal and interacting with his family just like her dad was.
Imagine if she had acknowledged him back then and got a similar reaction..

I think it isn't fair to the reader, because you can see the kid even in the scene without the ghosts, the one that is supposed to be the one saw by Hana.

@Beregorn actually the kid that Hana saw, was actually two kids. One was obviously a different kid with black hair and another one that is similar looking with the ghost, but if you look, the kid has a pattern on his shirt/sweater, he was also holding what's probably a ball ( it really looked like a life boey, but that doesn't makes any sense), whereas the ghost kid was holding a baloon.

@Beregorn

Agreed, as much as I enjoyed it, that was cheap. How is she supposed to hide the fact that she can see them if they can trick her into believing they're normal people? And why would it even need to look like a normal human in the first place when as far as it's aware the only other things that can see it are its own kind? This was the first time such a thing has ever happened (save for her dad but he doesn't appear to be an evil spirit), hopefully it's the last besides a major antagonist or something.

Can't wait for the trio to open up with each other and start an exorcist team. That would be fucking rad.

this made me think if she interacted with her dad, whether the dad would turn into one of them?

Imagine actually being in a park and looking at the familes and that actually happening. I'm surprised she still goes outside.

Uh oh, well can't rely on others forever i guess, she gotta make a do by herself somehow after this :<
