My theory : The teacher is actually a good guy who was actually saving the cats all this time (like what most people here think). He'll die after the accident and become a "good" ghost similar to Miko's father. He willl be the first ghost that Miko interacts with and will help/be helped by her. Then the third chance from the shrine gods will be used against that spider thingy (which, as most people agree on here, is most likely the ghost of the teacher's mother).

@pibata Pretty sure his mom is the big gross thing and she killed all his animals so they arent "sticking" to him. They are sticking to her. Atleast thats what that last panel made me feel like.
That the dudes still haunted so doesnt get attached to anything and rushes home or something

I'm going to guess that he is being possessed when he murders cats. Remember, not once have we seen him actually commit any kills, and he was just pissed off when he noticed the cat. For all we know the mother was just so goddamn obsessed with keeping him on a leash, that she murdered the cats he brought over.

I agree with some of the others, it's quite possible his fucked up mom is possessing him as the spirit inside of him bears quite resemblance.

HECK YEAH, THEORY TIME:

In his childhood when he saw a cat, I thought he adopted it in secret but his mother found out and killed it. Giving the child new PTSD and unable to eat meat. (Hence why he has rotten meat in plastic)
Later the mother died.
Remember that ghost CURSED the person they hate and can move to other target. One possibility, they follow the ghost of the mother, not him. Since there's a cat killer (assuming it's someone else, not him), the cats attached to the ghost mother more.
