Certainly, the fairy springs in Link to the Past where you get the gold sword and such were based on the fable, but in those it was, "Did you drop *the exact same item you threw in*?" Nothing about gold or silver, so no, it doesn't resemble the situation from Link to the Past much more than the invoked fable, quite the opposite.

I didn't call it a Japanese folk tale, @zaji970 did. In that other upload I said, and I'll even quote it so you don't have to click the link, "it's not from Link to the Past, the story of "did you drop this gold or silver thing" is much older than that." Then you linked this comment section as if it disproved me, when it hasn't and still hasn't, you said yourself it's Aesop, which is older than Link to the Past, but for some reason you still cling to this story referencing the Link to the Past version.

Edit: Or is that all this time you were confusing me for @zaji970 or assumed we said the same thing?

Okay sir. There's no "fable" here. Artist cut out second part entirely. Hermes was never associated with water, not in Greece nor in Rome. He wasn't residual spirit but something opposite, his domain roughly speaking the "movement". Ponds (or still bodies of water) hold entirely different connotations meta-thematically-wise than rivers. Author is a young person. It came from Japan, which in general tends to hold their own cultural creations, even contemporary ones, closer to heart and consciousness than anything borrowed. All that makes me think this short comic inspiration is closer in probabilistic sense to quoted video game than aesop. Or maybe it distributes itself and it comes down to something of a weighted mean, where that piece of software has greater value attributed to it.

In the end i don't know shit, but so any of you three stooges. So buzz off with that patronizing act ("tango" dude, really? screw you and that figure of speech).

@mikegnesium: Wow, dude, chill, what with the hostility? No one was patronizing you, no need to be that angry.

Also, the "What did you lose, the golden stuff or the silver stuff?" part of Aesop fable is well known around the world, this is not the first time I see that reference in a manga. There is way more chance that the author is referencing that than A Link to the past, because, contrary to what you said, it actually ressembles the situation of the fable more than the situation of the video game. (I mean, just look: the fable version and the Zelda version).


Anyway, let's just all enjoy that nice and short story.

I think it's dumb to sit and wait for someone to drop something. She is a water/lake spirit, not a lost items spirit. She doesn't need to wait for special conditions to start a conversation.
