I'm a tad confused. Did Mikogami know about the vampire hunter unit? Or was he figuratively left dangling in the wind for 8 years, fighting and killing vampires all on his own, while that squad turned their noses up at him as somehow being unqualified for their team?

This series has identity issues... is my overall feeling. As in I'm intrigued but every so often feel like I tripped over a rock and lost my place. Bur I'm a sucker for man-becomes-monster stories so I'll keep reading.
