My father always used superglue for his chapped/cracked fingers. It actually works quite well believe it or not. He never had any side effects, since superglue is low toxic. He eventually found a hand cream that actually prevents the chapping called Working Hands.
thats some dry fingers if they crack open. I could see if you were 50+ using a lot of things that dry out skin as my mom has a problem with cracked fingers sometimes

I'm a plumber, and Working Hands is bloody amazing. It fixes me right up whenever the skin in my joints cracks open, and prevents it from happening most of the time.
@alacaelum@spinaple@xharlock there is literally medical-grade superglue specifically for cuts and small wounds, you should absolutely get some if you've never used it, it's easy to apply with a brush attached to the inside of the lid. Yes it burns when you first apply it because the chemical drying creates high heat momentarily and can irritate injured tissue. But it can reduce the time it takes to heal upwards of a third to half it would otherwise, creates a shell over the cut so that foreign bacteria can't get in, protects and reinforces existing scabs, is usually waterproof(very useful for keeping existing scabs from getting soggy and falling off!), and naturally falls off as your skin cells cycle out and the ones it has adhered to die and fall off. The only time super glue can be actually dangerous is if you like, upend a large bottle of it onto a large surface area which makes the heat from it drying much more significant and can cause burns. But otherwise it's absolutely something you should keep some of at home, and is especially handy for papercuts, just disinfect the cut, dry it, squeeze it together, make a layer or two of glue over it to hold it shut, and it'll heal in a day or less plus it'll stop hurting. I get lots of small cuts at my job and it's basically essential. Working Hands is also great for general hand health.
also, it's dirt cheap, and a single bottle will last you essentially forever, I've had one bottle for 3 years and haven't even used a tenth of it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017JOF86

Oh I should remember that. I sometimes accidentally wipe my blood on paper due to randomly skin cracking during winter, maybe that'll help! I use Kamill when it cracks but that doesn't really prevent the cracking...
Thanks for the advice!
